Cleanup Privacy Policy

1. Scope and Controller

This policy applies to the Cleanup app, this support website, and communications sent to the contact address listed below. Cleanup is responsible for the processing described in this policy, except where Apple, Google, or another provider acts independently under its own privacy policy.

Privacy laws vary by location. We process information in accordance with applicable law and provide regional rights where those laws apply.

2. Information We Process

Photos, videos, and related metadata

If you grant Photos permission, Cleanup may access photos, videos, Live Photos, thumbnails, filenames, media type, file size, creation date, duration, editing state, location, camera/lens information, and other metadata available through iOS. The app may compute perceptual hashes, visual features, similarity groups, statistics, and storage estimates.

Contacts

If you grant Contacts permission, Cleanup may access contact names, phone numbers, email addresses, and related address-book fields to identify duplicates, incomplete entries, or other cleanup opportunities. Contact analysis is performed on your device.

Calendar events

If you grant Calendar permission, Cleanup may access event titles, dates, times, locations, notes, recurrence information, calendar names, and related fields to provide calendar organization and cleanup features. Calendar analysis is performed on your device.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes payments. We may receive transaction identifiers, product identifiers, subscription status, purchase and expiration dates, and entitlement information needed to unlock paid features and provide support. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

Communications

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, attachments, and any information you choose to provide. Please do not include photos, contact lists, or sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your support request.

Website information

When you open this website, Firebase Hosting may process standard request information, such as IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time, and security or diagnostic logs, to deliver and protect these pages under Google's privacy terms. Cleanup does not use Firebase Analytics or an advertising SDK in the App.

3. How Feature Data Is Handled

• Cleanup may store scan results, hashes, derived visual features, metadata, cleanup history, and preferences in local app storage on your device.
• If an original item is stored in iCloud, iOS may download it through Apple's services so that Cleanup can preview, analyze, convert, or compress it.
• To show place names in photo insights, Cleanup may submit a limited number of geographic coordinates to Apple's system geocoding service. Photos themselves are not sent for this purpose.
• When you choose to delete media, Cleanup asks the Photos framework to perform the change. Deleted items may remain in Apple's Recently Deleted album according to your Photos settings and Apple's retention rules.
• When you edit, merge, or delete contacts, iOS may display a confirmation or permission prompt. You are responsible for reviewing changes before confirming them.
• Calendar organization and cleanup are performed through Apple's calendar frameworks on your device. You are responsible for reviewing calendar changes before confirming them.

The App may still connect to third-party infrastructure when it uses Apple's App Store subscriptions, iCloud content delivery, or geocoding services. Opening the Privacy Policy or Terms also loads pages from Firebase Hosting. These connections do not create a Cleanup-operated backend; the relevant providers process request data under their own privacy policies.

4. How We Use Information

We process information as necessary to:

• Provide photo, video, contact, calendar, insight, deletion, conversion, and compression features on your device.
• Maintain local scan results and remember your settings.
• Process purchases, verify subscriptions, and restore entitlements.
• Improve performance, design, reliability, and features through testing and support feedback.
• Respond to support requests and communicate about the service.
• Protect users, enforce our terms, comply with law, and establish or defend legal claims.

Depending on your location, our legal bases may include performing a contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving Cleanup, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already performed lawfully.

5. Service Providers and External Services

• Apple: iOS, Photos, Contacts, iCloud, geocoding, App Store purchases, subscriptions, Calendar, and related platform services. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Hosting: delivery and protection of this website.

Cleanup does not include Firebase Analytics or Google Mobile Ads in the App. Firebase is used only to host and deliver this website.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their processing is governed by their own policies and any privacy choices available through their services.

6. No Advertising

Cleanup does not display advertisements, use Google Mobile Ads, or request tracking permission for advertising.

7. Storage and Retention

• Local scan data, calendar and contact analysis results, and preferences remain on your device until removed by the app, cleared through app features, or deleted when you uninstall the app, subject to iOS behavior and device backups.
• Apple retains purchase and subscription records under its policies. Cleanup may keep the subscription status and entitlement information needed by the App on your device.
• Technical website request information may be retained by Firebase Hosting under Google's applicable settings and retention policies.
• Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer your request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, or meet legal requirements.

8. Sharing, Disclosure, and International Transfers

We may disclose information:

• To the service providers described above so they can perform services for Cleanup.
• When you direct us to do so or give consent.
• To comply with law, legal process, or valid government requests.
• To protect rights, safety, property, users, or the public, and to prevent fraud or abuse.
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate notice and safeguards where required.

We do not sell copies of your photos, videos, or contacts, and Cleanup does not disclose information to analytics or advertising providers. Apple services and Firebase Hosting may process the request information needed to provide their services internationally, subject to their policies and applicable safeguards.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection; withdraw consent; or appeal a privacy decision. Cleanup does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

You can remove local app data by using available in-app controls or uninstalling Cleanup. You can manage Photos, Contacts, and Calendar permissions through iOS Settings and manage subscriptions through your Apple Account.

To submit a request concerning information controlled by Cleanup, email feedback.cleanup@icloud.com. We may need to verify your request. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority where that right applies.

10. Children's Privacy

Cleanup is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No device, storage system, network transmission, or service can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and Apple Account.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Cleanup, service providers, or applicable law. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
